First I have a round one that you see straight ahead.
Nothing too fancy with the decor - a lamp, some pictures, a mother of pearl candle burner, a fluted bowl from Sandwich glass. I'm satisfied with it. It will be littered with car keys and mail momentarily.
The other table to the left is right against the wall and under a mirror and in a word? BORING! I cleared the whole thing off for Christmas decorating and when it came time to put everything back, I have absolutely no idea what was there in the first place. The fact that I can't even remember tells me it was no great shakes and it's time for a do over.
I went to Home Goods yesterday and roamed around. Then I roamed and roamed and roamed some more because nothing was jumping out at me at all. I finally settled on a footed bowl and some sparkly picture frames. I did have a yellow Buddha statue that I was considering because it was pretty and exotic and the color was nice. I took a picture on my cell and sent it to Keely. Her reply: "Are you insane?" She didn't feel it went well with my other decor which is decidedly a cross between traditional and contemporary. I think she may have been right!
I had the twine balls which I think are too big but will work for now. As you can see I have a vacancy on right side of the table. I can't help but wonder how yellow Buddha would look there! I may pick her up just to "see"......
These apothecary jars could also work from Pier 1 and these would actually blend a little bit better with the rest of my decor.
May have to stop in there tomorrow too just to try them out. I am also going to look around on ebay for some depression glass votives in other colors to disperse throughout the table.
The point of this post is, I need some help!! Do you have any suggestions? I think I want something on the larger side, something a little different, something pretty.... I'd love to hear what you think! xo, Brie

How big is the Buddha? I think a substantial-ish yellow Buddha would look great there. I'm not into matchiness, anyhow--eclectic is more interesting.
I love your round table--it looks like a warm welcome.
Whatever you put there, I picture it being almost as tall as up to the frame. Seems like something bigger and taller would be a nice balance.
you could get rid of the mirror and replace it with some really nice art work that I saw on etsy. I believe the painting was called mittens......
didn't you have Kayla's angel on that table?
First of all, go for the Buddha, even if it doesn't work on that table, I'm sure you'll find a place for it.
LOVE the apothecary jars.
What about a really big bowl filled with twine balls or wood balls?
I'll try to think of some more ideas.
Or, add some more photos on the wall behind the table to fill up the space.
that's all.
Where is Davey Crackit? Maybe he could make his home there.
If Mr. Crackit is busy, I would try out the Buddha statue. I say if you like it and it makes you smile then go for it!
THANK YOU everyone! I'm going shopping again tomorrow.... stay tuned, will be posting some options and I'll be needing your help again.
Keely - if yellow Buddah is gone, I will clobber you. PS Mittens is on its way to your house for your bday
I am very excited to weigh in on this. First of all I do not think that your foyer is the place to display family photos. I would put those in your living room or family room or bedroom. On the round table since you do toss keys, etc. there, why not put a pretty bowl or tray to catch all that? As for the long table, can you hang your mirror the other way? A mirror is wonderful in a foyer. How about a nice full, lush plant in a beautiful cache pot? I would banish all those small candles, too. It makes things looks cluttered. Instead if you want a candle, do a nice big one on a pretty dish. The Buddha could balance things out. Use odd numbers - so three objects is fine. If you do want to do the little candles, do NOT scatter them, rather - group them on a tray or square plate in a complimentary color. Hope that gives you some more ideas. Good luck! I am anxious to see how it works out.
I am a blank on ideas, but saw a cute blog post on accessories over at the nester: http://www.thenester.com/2010/01/lessons-on-accessories.html
Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!
Late to weigh in... but you could do a table full of photos using similar frames. I have a hall table in our upstair hall similar and we have all black frames of photos and a lamp. Also on the wall is a collage of photos also in black frames. I don't mind photos in the front hall.
