How to Have the Perfect Snow Day

Follow these simple steps to a fabulous snow day....

1.  Have Ms. Honeywell (our school's automated alert system) call you the NIGHT BEFORE to tell you there will no school

2.  Turn off that pesky 6 am alarm

3.  Wake up at 9:20 to find you are first one up in your house

4.  Eat fattening snacks and watch Millionaire Matchmaker in your pj's until around 1 pm

5.  Be embarrassed by a neighborhood child who appears at your door around 1 only to find you still in your pjs

6.   Round up the troops to go sledding and invite some friends

No pics of Mr. L because he was off socializing the entire afternoon on the slopes

7.  Sit in a chair on the on the hill and socialize with other moms

8.  Move on to the warm car and listen to your favorite sirius satellite station and direct the kids where to find you when they've had enough

9.  Head home and make cocoa, a fire, a glass of wine and listen to Juice Newton while you make dinner (thank you 8 on 80's for reminding me of Juice)

10.  Get back in your pjs

Best. Snow. Day. Ever!!!!  Please bring me a few more.... xo, Brie

Snow Days

Our snow is finally here after a cruel joke last week left us pretty much snowless!

I'm reading this and loving it so far. I really liked Eat, Pray, Love and it's a follow up to that story! xo, Brie

Final Tallies

Snow appears to have finally stopped and our totals are about a foot. Thankfully all activities have been canceled and today I'm wrapping and making Christmas cookies. xo, Brie

Hour 7

It has been snowing steadily for seven straight hours! No sign of letting up - the pics aren't looking too different at this point but we are up to 8 inches. The Cape is supposed to really get a ton tomorrow. I am going to wrap a few gifts and call it a night! I am very thankful for our electricity and heat in working order! Sweet dreams xo

Hour 5

Approximately 6 inches fluffy, sparkly, powdery snow! xo, Brie

2 hours into the storm

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow :) xo, Brie

Preparing for the Big Snow Storm

The timing of the big blizzard of 09 is kind of sucky. I have packages to mail, food shopping to do, and a minivan to decorate like Rudolph (if the darn thing ever arrives!)

I did make it to Costco this morning and my advice to you is stay away.... stay far far away! It was a nuthouse and a lot of the crowd appeared to be very hungry and even willing to create complete Costco gridlock in the name of 1/6 of a hot dog wrapped in a Pillsbury crescent roll! It was a lot of fun, I could feel my blood pressure rising. My thoughts were unChristmaslike.

We're home now and just in time. Snow is starting....

At least I will be forced in tonight and might even start wrapping some gifts! Stay warm!! xo, Brie

Real Snow, Real Snow cha cha cha

Ok, so this is it! The BIG one has finally hit NJ! Earlier this week they said 8-10 inches of snow, then downgraded to 4-6 inches, then last night before bed 2-4 inches. I went to bed fully expecting nothing AND school. Well, got the 5 am call (only one today, thank you lord) saying school is cancelled. I always happy to snap off that alarm asap :) Got another wake up call in the form of my visiting "sister" Lacey (read my parent's dog) barking at a neighbor at 7am. So much for sleeping in. We have well over 10 inches of snow and the kids are in heaven and have been playing outside all morning.

Here is what Caroline originally selected to hit the sledding slopes with this morning. While I love her selections (especially the bracelet and Lelli Kellis on the wrong feet) the good mother in me bundled her up to resemble Randy in The Christmas Story. Remember him? "I can't put my arms down!!!" xo, Brie

PS tomorrow I will share my adventures last night in laser tag - me and 14, 9 year old boys
