In a Purple Mood

Sometimes I mix up my pansies but this year it's all about the purple! I think it's the Prince in me. xo, Brie

Yo Yo Crazy

Sorry I have been among the missing this week, the kids are on Spring break all week and we've been doing some local day trips and taking advantage of this gorgeous week here in NJ!

I have some shows coming up and have been playing around with some new ideas. My latest obsession - fabric yo yos. What do you think of these sweet little hair clips? xo, Brie

Decorating for Easter

I don't have a lot of Easter decorations but the ones I have, I do LOVE!

This wire Easter tree belonged to my grandparents. They live on the Cape but don't pull out all their decorations like they used to so a few years back they held a raffle for this fabulous tree! Everyone present got an entry and Kay was the winner! Our family of six had nice odds in this raffle :) Isn't it so cute? This is the first year I have been able to put it on a lower table so it is more of a focal point (the kids used to be ALL over this and it would inevitably get knocked over, so I had to move it WAY up high).

Our bunny door hanger my grandfather made for me. I know I have posted it before, but I love her toilet brush tail! Each year I give her a makeover b/c the bows take a beating. Somehow in storage this year, her right ear got a hairline fracture. It was nothing a little duck tape couldn't reinforce along with some strategically placed pigtails :)

Love the sparkly bunny and fluffy tail from Home Goods and her little sheep friends from Christmas Tree Shop! Poor black sheep lost an eye but I think it makes him look tough and adds to his character!

Fresh from the garden! Nothing says spring like daffodils :) Happy Spring! xo, Brie

Mr. KB and I were using this power saw thingy last weekend to de-branch some of our lilacs that are really starting to get a touch out of control in the huge department. I pointed and he did the sawing - I've never been too good with the tools! So as I am pointing around the last bush, a bird flys out and nearly takes our heads off in the process.

A few minutes later we see this....

and then these!!!! She has four babies just like me :) The kids are calling her Mama Bridget (which my niece Molly calls me) I am as excited as the kids to see these adorable little baby birdies!!

that tall one must be the oldest - especially with that nose for news :)

Here is Mama Bridget getting dinner ready for the babies and at the same time giving me the old stink eye on our neighbor's "spite shed". This structure was built 5 feet from our property line and they live on a half acre. They are the type that turn out all the lights and put a "Go Away" sign on their door for Halloween. They're awesome!! I'm not bitter about it or anything but it is kind of ugly!!! I have noticed that Mama Bridget like to use the "facilities" on the roof of the spite shed and that makes THIS Mama Bridget kind of snicker ;) xo, Brie

Springtime in NJ

I was starting to feel sorry for myself this weekend as I froze my you know what off at a bunch of cold, grey, drizzly, freezing baseball games..... but it's a NEW DAY (kev's latest phrase) here in NJ! Blue skies, bright sun, and 70 degrees. The perfect beautiful day :) Here are some pics around my yard in bloom. Hope you're having a perfect beautiful Monday too! xo, Brie

This crab apple tree was a gift from my parents it's one of my favorite things ever

under the canopy... smells beautiful in here but look out for the bees, they love this tree too!

close up of the blossoms

All these lilacs border one side of our yard. Every single one of them is from a transplanted shoot! Amazing! It only took about 4-5 years for them to get like this. You cannot even believe how great these smell!

up close... one of my favorite flowers!

Even the violets are starting to pop up :)

Duh!

These are what truly inspired my Spring post and I forgot to include them! Time for some ginkgo biloba or better yet a huge pot of strong coffee!

It's chilly and drizzling here. The signs of Spring are here but it feels far away today. Baseball practice has been cancelled... they boys are NOT happy. xo, Brie

Play Ball!

A couple of great signs that Spring is on the way!

First up the boys have their first baseball practice of the 08 season tonight and are out of their minds excited about it. I am out of mind excited that they are on the SAME team this year which means less driving for mommy. They are 19 months apart so every other year they get to play on the same team - the best! We are a big baseball lovin family.

Next check out this :) my forsythias and lilacs are starting to bloom and bud up!

Oh yeah and this guy is EVERYWHERE!

All systems are go! Now if we could just get some warmer temps here in NJ we'd really be in business. I am really looking forward to putting some color back in my yard and cleaning up this pathetic looking unloved garden that looks like it belongs to Morticia Addams! They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious, and spooky....... xo, Brie

How embarrassing!! Hopefully the "after" shot will make up for this pitiful "before" ;)
