Lady, We're not Together Anymore

ATL 1 @ Yahoo! Video

This might be one of my all time FAVORITE American Idol auditions ever. William Hung who? Dewone, you had my heart at Layyyyyyyyyyyyyytee. I have been singing this for close to 12 hours now much to my family's delight! xo, Brie

Hate to say It

but it's adios to Megan Joy tonight..... that was one hot mess. I like her but she can't seem to find her niche in this competition.

Even Scott was better than her last night (but only a smidge). It seems to me someone is taking advantage of Scott not being able to throw in some input on his wardrobe choice. How did you like Seacrest "challenging" Scott with "how do you know your pants are pink"? Classy Seacrest, real classy! At least the hair stylist is taking it easy on his hair this week.

So what number do I dial to fast forward this whole season and cut to the chase with the finale between Danny and Adam? xo, Brie

PS Paula please stop dancing to every song.... you're starting to look like Ramona. xoxoxo

So NOT PC

but none the less hilarious. If you can hang in there to minute 2:20 you will see for yourself. I love Best Week Ever on VH1! Always delivers the funny. xo, Brie

Almost Forgot my Idol Predictions

silly me....

If America has any sense whatsoever it's adious to

this guy

and also this guy

Those tricky judges have something up their sleeve to mess with the voting. I think they will excercise a veto if needed. This season is screwy!

Idol Chit Chat

I'm watching After the Final Rose Part 2 as I type this (which is a TOTAL ratings ripoff so Check Spellingin case you "missed" it, you really "missed" nothing)

I'm left feeling indifferent about Idol for the third week in a row.

She's in for sure

I hope he's in... (again I'm nervous b/c I actually voted for him last night and got through every single time)

and the last one is a toss up for me. I'm guessing it will be this guy? He got a lot of air time in the preview shows. He is legally blind, and seems like a very very nice guy, but I'm going to say it... I don't think he has that great of a voice. At least last night he didn't that's for sure. I did like how he gave Seacrest a little b busting last night and asked for a high five after the audition debacle.

In case you missed it.... xo, Brie

PS Olivia Newton John totally let me down last night and sang a terrible Meatloaf song. WHAT!??!?! He did such a cool unplugged Disturbia during auditions. He needs to do stuff like that every time.

Idol Chit Chat

As my downward spiral of getting nothing done continues... it only seems fitting to chime in with my American Idol update and predictions.

First up with have the people I feel will go through

1. The no brainer - who does AI think they're fooling stacking the decks in their favor with the best person to perform last and end the show on a high note? I'm on to you!! Good gracious can this guy sing. He has the quaffed rocker hair and guy liner but the little face of cute Jessie McCartney so I do not believe he'll be scaring anyone off. Amazing, amazing singer.....

2. Cute single mom with the inked sleeve - loved her!! Quirky, odd dancing moves, great voice - I'd say she's a guarantee except for the fact that when I called to vote for her last night, I got through with complete ease. That concerns me... we'll see.

3. Strawberry Shortcake - She rocked it last night, I am however tired of hearing Heart's Alone. It's a great song and all but it's been done 4 or 5 times already. Try some Paramore next time - and if you're taking requests I like Misery's Business. I can accompany you with the Guitar Hero if you like because while I don't like to brag, I am awesome on that one ;)

I quite like Nick/Norman - he's pretty funny. Will the schtick get on my nerves after awhile? Probably not... I like the corny.

I was bummed to see this cute thing crash and burn last night. She's beautiful and seems so sweet.

Can't wait to what goes down tonight! xo, Brie

Idol Chit Chat

Well, the show is finally on the road for American Idol. Was sooooo excited for the real competition to begin! Something was "not right" last night - that's for sure!!! Everything seemed off from beginning to end. Lots of nervous, boring and/or horrible song choices.
There are still WAY too many people for me to make proper predictions but here's who I think has the best chance to make the top three for this week.

Natch, my boy Danny Gokey. I predicted him to take it all awhile back and I'm still supporting him. He sang well last night although "Hero" by Mariah Carey is not for me. Randy failed to mention for the 2 millionth time that he worked with Mariah and I found that disappointing to say the least.

I like this guy with his glasses better... those stylists think they know EVERYTHING

The rest is a crap shoot.... seriously but I am going with

Construction Guy (picked a good song, got a LOT of air time in the shows leading up and didn't massacre his song)
and Crazy Jackie (I like crazy Jackie b/c she is funny and knows my sister so now I feel like I can say I know her - which I don't ;) she actually has a great voice but sure picked a doozy last night (great song, horriblay rendition) - this could be her Achilles Heel in this competition b/c if memory serves she picked a stupid song to audition with and got very lucky with another chance)

I had such high hopes for this gal (she didn't blow it but it Natural Woman has been done and done and done and done some more) I was disappointed.
The judges seemed to like this little lady but I was bored and don't care for the blues!
So what did you think?

2009 American Idol

and the winner is.....................................

Danny Gokey! You heard it here first :) This guy is good!!! I have a couple of other favorites who are sure to go far too. Please keep in mind my success rate to date with predicting the winner is 0.0 but I have a feeling this year will be THE year! Have a great weekend! xo, Brie

David Wins!

Boy oh boy did American Idol (and all the media for that matter) love the fact that final was down to 2 Davids.

We almost had a complete Tivo disaster meltdown (meltdown by me that is) last night! The kids had their Spring Concert at school at 7pm and at the same time American Idol finale AND Lost finale both on at 8pm. Tivo made the right decision and grabbed Lost for us. Thank you Tivo, you rule! Why they ran the finale to Lost at 8pm (reg time is 10p) on Wed (reg night is Thur) I have no clue. Don't fret if you missed it, they are rerunning the finale to Lost again Thur May 29th!

So what a great surprise to see David Cook win last night and with guyliner to boot! With a 12 million lead in votes no less!! I especially found his win fitting as I maintained my perfect streak of choosing the wrong person every single week! It was a tough pill for poor David Archeutah especially since he performed so well in the final night, the poor little guy. They were both great sports, which I always like to see. Something tells me little David will do just fine!

A few observations from the finale and then I am off to take crying Ms. C to swimming. It's Thursday!

  • What was up with Randy Jackson's Captain Kangaroo coat - that was bizarre!

  • SO great to see my Jason and his perfect teeth again! Michael Johns too :D

  • David Hernandez, not so much ;) what was up with that devilish grin when he said the word "naked" in the George Michael medley? ICK!

  • Why does creepy former contestant Constantine get so much audience camera time?

  • Paula laughing and crying and dancing and crying and clapping and crying

  • and the best news of all is that Country Girl gets to keep her head!! All is right in this world :)

Don't Go Changin.........

I'm going to take things down a bit with one of my personal favorites....

This is for David Cook... seriously, bring back your old hair! I do NOT want to see this weird hair tonight. Got it? Thanks! xo, Brie
eta: It's hard to get a good link to the weird hair. Maybe his stylist is rethinking this bad move? It's long bangs, straight line, right in the face, it's not pretty!

American Idol... tsk tsk

David is the king of funny faces.... like this. Pic courtesy of achuletafans.com :)
American Idol is pulling out all the stops to "create" a season finale between the 2 Davids. The judging was SO biased last night because as much as I HATE to admit this David Cook was OFF last night. I still want him to win, but man was he out of tune last night.

David Archuleta was the man of the night. First song (chosen by Paula!) was perfect. Second song (chosen by him) - loved it. He definitely was awkward singing "need you boo, gotta see you boo." The dancing.... again awkward! His voice was right on though. I thought is was a smart choice picking a top 40 song and I love that song. Third song (chosen by producers) was pure sabotage! What the..............???? All in all though, the strongest performer. Maybe having dad gone from backstage helped him!

Still missing Jason, I'm hopeless!

MUST GO SEW! Have great one! xo, Brie

Thursday

Well as you can guess I am feeling a little sad today b/c I hated to say goodbye to my Jason in his matador red spandex last night but as we all know in our hearts... it was time. I do believe this is how he wanted it to play out. He's publicly said several times now that he's ready to go and 4th runner up is not too shabby. He clearly has a fan base, is a recognizable face, and is under little to no contractual obligations with the American Idol machine. Dumb like a fox I tell you! And the good news is, he will no longer have to do the grapevine and perform in weird opening medleys that look like they were choreographed by my 7 old or wait, better yet by Corky St. Clair! Opening a "number" with high fives is beyond ridiculous for my really really ridiculously good looking Jason ;)

So our show yesterday went well! A much better turnout than Tuesday night, although our former NJ Governor Christie Todd Whitman was in attendance that evening so that was fun. No Keeks and Brie purchases sadly though... maybe she's not into pink and green?

We were in a nice room and made some nice vendor friends. You can always find great unique things at these boutique shows. I usually end up finding a thing or two to bring home as "souvenirs" for me :) Here is my latest. It's an Italian ceramic serving dish. I LOVE IT! Bought it from a company called Your Italian Table. Isn't it so pretty?????

xo, Brie

You'd want to Leave too!

If they made you do ridiculous stunts like this!

More later... I'm off to Ms. C's swimming lessons! xo, Brie

Good GRIEF!

Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me, hmm, hmmm, hmmmm, hmmm, hmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!
Don't think it didn't completely kill me (and Keeks too) that we were at a show last night while American Idol was on! My husband called me giddy to tell me my boyfriend flubbed it in a major way. I do believe Mr. KB is jealous of my Jason ;) Of course we raced out of our show promptly at 10pm and watched the train wreck first hand on Tivo the second we got home. Here is my thoughtful analysis......

I was sort of bored again, maybe I was tired from the show?!?! I find myself not being able to WAIT for the program and this week's theme is the kind I like but I am left feeling hollow at the end.

I thought everyone did well (nothing exciting) except for Jason who's first song was beyond terrible. Painful in fact! I actually liked his second song but forgetting the lyrics is a big no no. The humming was fanfreakingtastic!

I just don't know what to do with him at this point. I know I am in the minority (although Keeks loves him too) and I know it's not fair.... but I want him to stay one more week. Keeks really summed it right when she said - it doesn't matter WHO goes this week (Syesha or Jason) b/c the other one will go next week and the finale will be a throw down show down with the two Davids. I agree 100% and truth be told if I had to choose, I would personally rather see Jason one more week! He's entertaining if nothing else :) So my prediction is Syesha may get das boot tonight!

Bye for now, off to round 2 of the Spring Basket show. Last night was a little slow, hoping for more traffic today! Wish us luck! xo, Brie

Hand Rescue

Before my latest product recommendation I want to chime in quick r/g AI last night. I don't want this blog to be ONLY about American Idol - but holy smokes do I love that show.

I was sad to see Brooke go last night. When Jason was initially safe I immediately posted this funny little video from a commercial I love of this guy doing a happy dance.....

then I took it down b/c I didn't want it to seem like I was celebrating Brooke's departure. I loved Brooke - nice girl, unique voice - I just love that unplugged acoustic sound. I do believe "I'm a Believer" did her in. She was Kay's favorite by far and I LIKED that she liked her best. She seems like a great role model. Talented, wholesome, nice, personable.... what's not to like?!?! She seems like the kind of girl you would love for your daughter to grow up and be like!

I thought Paula looked really pretty last night. I loved her dress and hair in the headband. That disclaimer that she was not under the influence the night before was, let's just say... uncomfortable?

Ok, now on to the hand rescue. There is something about the cold and boat load of sewing I have been doing b/c my hands are usually a complete mess in the winter. NOT anymore :) My sister in law gave me this cream by Thymes called Olive Leaf Hand Lotion for my bday back in December. It smells SO GOOD, nice and clean (and not like olives btw). The lotion itself is perfect, not too thin, not too thick, absorbs quickly. I put it on every night before bed (that's another one of my weird things... can't sleep without hand lotion and chapstick before bed) and it has done wonders for me! This is good stuff - and I only had to replace it yesterday so I got a good 4+ months from one bottle. Impressive! I highly highly recommend it! xo, Brie

Who's more confused???

Jason singing the lyrics to song 2 to the tune of song 1 (thank goodness in practice only) OR Paula Abdul who truly appeared to be on another planet last night!

Before I begin my brief analysis last night, I am going to be upfront with you that I did not see the show in it's entirety. Just enough in bits and pieces to tell you that I thought the entire show and all the singers were just average or below average. That's right... everyone! At this stage of the game with only 5 singers left, a show developed around one singer (although I do love me a little Neil Diamond every now and then) is getting silly. I find it to be a bit biased towards the strong ballad singers. At the very least they should have maybe each done ONE Neil song and then a song of their choice for number two. It's time for us to see what kind of recording artists they are truly going to be and start choosing songs from there own genre and style.

Jason, Jason.... You're making it hard for me to defend you week after week - I know Neil Diamond isn't for you. You didn't stink, you didn't soar... boring.

David Cook - I believe you may win this and I will be totally ok with that. Great voice, please choose songs we know - it's boring when you don't!

Brooke - First song was very rocky. Second song better

David Archuleta - Ms C loved your choice in song with Sweet Caroline. She is convinced you were singing it to her. Again, you have a great voice, but Neil Diamond is not for you.

and last but not least... Syesha - boring.

Did I mention I found last night's show boring???;)

I vote we mix it up next week with a Jack Johnson night, or John Mayer night... or any singer that will suit my Jason! I have selected Flake for you (see below) it's one of my favorites and suits you too - don't worry, I've been called one once or twice too ;) Tonight will be a nail biter!!!!!!! xo, Brie

Who's Idea was 2 day weekends anyway?

I am ready for a 3 day weekend right about now! 2 days are just too short - we had a fun dinner in town with 2 fun couples, it was a really good time. I had 2 delicious mojitos, I was pressured to have a 3rd and had to politely decline :) such bad influences around me ;). All I can say is Thank GOODNESS b/c my head didn't even like 2 the next morning! We enjoyed a heated American Idol discussion - appears I am in the minority with my love for Jason Castro. My girlfriends used words like "dirty" "gross" and "sucks" to describe him. I know.... shocking! They even went as far as to say they were "surprised" with me and my love for him b/c they thought I had good taste. I took the high road and told them they were completely insane.... they'll see ;) And in case you are wondering - they are both Archuleta fans. I told them my album cover vision but they aren't buying it... again, they'll see.

I am spending the day changing over the kids drawers with their Spring/Summer clothes. It's an overwhelming task to say the least and I really hate it. It is the best feeling when it's all done.

Tonight.... I sew :D - hope your Sunday is a bit more exciting than mine! xo, Brie
