I haven't done this installment in FOREVAH but I thought of something the other day - Keeks and I LOVED playing with these and I am wondering if you remember them?
I loved the pop on piece that made the doll look like she was riding on a bicycle. Thanks to good old ebay you can have a reunion with DP. Find them here!!
Thanks to good old youtube I found an old 80's commercial - can you imagine being cast as this woman? I'm imagining the direction went something like... speak in the most insane put on voice you can muster up and sell sell SELL those dolly pops! xo, Brie
As promised... here is the recipe for our incredibly complicated stromboli!
First up - the ingredients. Pillsbury french loaf, pizza sauce ( I wish I had the pizza quick sauce b/c I love singing that old commercial) mozzarella cheese, and whatever you normally like for toppings.
Preheat your oven to 350 and spray a cookie sheet with some cooking spray. Your might want to throw some tin foil over the cookie sheet to make clean up a little easier. I forgot to do this! Open up your french loaf and find the seam and carefully unroll the dough - this can occasionally go horribly wrong, so take your time and do it right.
Next up is the sauce - this is the perfect recipe to recruit a child worker if you have one who loves to help with dinner!
Add your cheese and toppings
Fold over each of the sides a little
Start rolling it up from top to bottom until you have something resembling a loaf - it doesn't have to look beautiful but I feel certain you can do a better job than this ;)
Make up another one depending on how many hungry people you are feeding - we have 6 in our house and there was not a piece left. Some turkey chili simmering over there on the right for my lunches this week - nothing to do with this recipe :)
Bake in the over for 25 - 30 minutes. Slice into 1 inch slices and serve with a salad and voila you are a hero with the kids.
These also make great appetizer snacks if you are having a Super Bowl party or something!
Here you can sing this old 80's commercial while you make it - Mangia! xo, Brie
You know- if I owned a black leotard and a pumpkin head I would be very happy to distribute candy to unsuspecting trick or treaters in this get up. It's probably best for all involved parties that I don't! Happy Halloween! xo, Brie
As big baseballs fans, the kids were loving this, this morning! In a post interview the kid said he first saw the move in the movie Major League 2. Priceless! Brian Kownacki, this Buds for you ;) xo, Brie
I saw stumbled upon this little gem of a youtube video on regretsy yesterday. I double dog dare you to be in a bad mood after viewing this! It's all my dance moves rolled into one song and I will definitely be trying the best move ever at 2:22 at my next event! I do believe I may personally raise this pumpkin's hits to a million by myself. Can't.get.enough. Have a great weekend xo, Brie
I want to wish all my faithful readers (mom and Keely) a very Merry Christmas (just kidding, I really do mean all 10 of you and you know who you are)! Company will begin arriving sometime this afternoon and I can hardly wait to see everyone.
I've got a lot done around here the last couple of days - just when I thought I was drowning in my to do list there it is, the light at the end of the tunnel! (Greatest site ever by the way - thank you to the blogger who showed me it, exactly which blog is escaping me, but please know you have made life easier for me and I thank you xo)
So here are some things I've crossed off the list:
I finished this book
I loved it! It's not exactly an easy read, you need concentration but I found it well worth it and would like to give a shout out to the librarian who took pity on me and allowed to renew for a 3rd time (you're only allowed 2 renewals). I love memoirs and this is a good one!
I cooked up all my shrimp for shrimp cocktail and have it chillin in the fridge. This is the best cocktail sauce ever by the way... available seasonally (as in now) at my home away from home, Costco!
I've made this, these and even this! Not too shabby, right?!
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas, from the bottom of my heart... so I'll leave you with this holiday favorite. I'm sorry, it's just not Christmas without New Kids on the Block :)
Who do you feel more embarrassed for in this video? Jordan when he tears off his leather jacket or Joey Joe when he does that booty dance? Discuss amongst yourselves :) xo, Brie
Have taken over my life! My blogging has stalled due to some non exciting life events - unless of course you would like to hear about how I drive my children all over my town every single night to drop them off and pick them up at various activities, fill up at the gas station and repeat.
A new favorite I found through twitter is a site called blip where you can pretty much find any song and tweet, fb, or blog it. I've been digging deep here to find funny random ones - like this! Enjoy! xo, Brie
Quite possibly the worst wham song ever and when I say worst I mean that in a loving way!
I can't seem to stop playing the Captain Tanealyoutube video I posted yesterday. First of all, it's an awesome song and I think they should seriously consider a comeback but that goes without saying!
A few observations from the video
Taneal has a lot of teeth, I'm thinking more than an average person?
She loves to look at her background singers while she sings and it's weird
One of the said background singers is seriously copying Taneal's style.... Is it her sister or do we have a single white female sitch on our hands?
Taneal'slipsynching is not so good despite her perky demeanor (don't believe me, ff to around the one minute mark :)
The captain plays those bi level keyboards with the energy level of a snail who was slipped so exederin pm
He is very lucky this cat was little after his time or I think he may have been given the boot!
Another hilarious one for you.... (beware though, one naughty word but I am sure it was used for dramatic effect!) and whatever you do, stay out of kinkos! xo, Brie Spring line almost complete!!!
I can't get this song out of my head after seeing the movie three times this past weekend. Now I am going to get it in your head :) It's a great song, and you have to admit Cee-Lo from Gnarls Barkley has one awesome voice! You're a diamond in the rough, a brilliant ball of clay, you can be a work of art, if you just go all the way! Love it :) xo, Brie
If I had been a contestant on American Idol - this is the song I would have chosen. I'm certain that I would have rocked it, karate moves and all. Go big or go home, right?
One of my favorite, low pressure, just fun holidays - plus green is my favorite color :) Corned Beef about to go into the crock pot for sandwiches tonight, Guinness in the fridge, life is good :)
Enjoy one of my ipod faves that will be playing in the background today! xo, Brie
Edit: Corned Beef sloppy joe Recipe
rye bread, thinly sliced corned beef, swiss cheese, coleslaw, and russian dressing - THE BEST! You can see our pics from last year here
I'm watching After the Final Rose Part 2 as I type this (which is a TOTAL ratings ripoff so in case you "missed" it, you really "missed" nothing)
I'm left feeling indifferent about Idol for the third week in a row. She's in for sure I hope he's in... (again I'm nervous b/c I actually voted for him last night and got through every single time)
and the last one is a toss up for me. I'm guessing it will be this guy? He got a lot of air time in the preview shows. He is legally blind, and seems like a very very nice guy, but I'm going to say it... I don't think he has that great of a voice. At least last night he didn't that's for sure. I did like how he gave Seacrest a little b busting last night and asked for a high five after the audition debacle.
In case you missed it.... xo, Brie
PS Olivia Newton John totally let me down last night and sang a terrible Meatloaf song. WHAT!??!?! He did such a cool unplugged Disturbia during auditions. He needs to do stuff like that every time.
Nevermind that I almost forgot I had to read to Liam's class in libary yesterday, I still remember every word to this catchy jingle!!! Bring back the Big Fig!!!!! xo, Brie
"embedding disabled by request" boooooooo but here's the link
We had a lovely little taste of Spring this past w/e in northern NJ with temps in the low 50's!! It was so beautiful out, you could smell Spring in the distance. Today, not so much. Freezing, snowing (not accumulating) I am so cold and lazy I am wearing my Gramma Gert coat sweater and unable to move. The Gramma Gert coat sweater is handmade by my late grandmother and is really the original snuggie. Please tell me you've seen this infomercial (I'll post it and a hilarious spoof of it at the end) I love this sweater so much. There are 3 very decided states for me to be in to bust out this sweater.
sick
hungover
freezing
Today, I'm freezing.... once this magical sweater is on, you are so toasty and warm and any kind of real work is suddenly out of the question! If I weren't so vain, I'd have somebody snap my picture in this - maybe later! Truly, truly, truly one of my most treasured possessions! xo, Brie
The REAL infomercial
and a priceless parody (with bad language so be careful if there are kids around)
oh sheesh, have to post this in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a great man and one of my favorite songs - EVER! I saw April 4th this morning and the date was bugging me and I couldn't remember why.....
lovin me some vintage mullet sporting U2!! Best Irish export next to Guinness ;)
