Three Little Birds

I do believe we've got a bird theme in full effect this week!
This morning, out of nowhere (or so I thought), Ms. C starts singing this song as she is getting ready for school. I am not a huge reggae fan but this particular song I have always loved. I'm floored that she is singing it and she directs me to Noggin and tells me she loves the song and the video because it has baby animals with their moms in it. I'm going to have to agree... this is the cutest thing ever. Just bought it on itunes!

Meghann Won the Contest!

Thanks for voting for our friend Meghann - She WON :) I am so excited for her!!! I get the pleasure of hearing her amazing voice at church every week (ok, not every week but I am getting better) and hopefully you can hear her too if you tune into the Jets game at 4pm this Sunday! xo, Brie

Lucky Recipient = ME!

Last week I got a wonderful little package prize from A Dozen Eggs !! Let me just tell you that YES, they are as tasty as they look, and NO I didn't get to eat all by myself :)

The maple syrup was a lovely treat too and was gone in a flash Saturday morning when we made waffles in the waffle iron. Thank you Laura, what a sweet pick me up! xo, Brie

Not enough ways to say Thank YOU!

During the school year my 3rd grader Kev was learning US geography and state capitals. Part of the class project fun was to reach out to family and friends for postcards with a goal of receiving at least one per all 50 states by the end of the year. The reward would be an ice cream party should they be able to pull it off.

I find ice cream to be quite motivating, but you can multiply that drive by 100 when it comes to a class full of 9 year olds. I reached out to some family members and friends telling them of Kev's project, giving them the details and kind of forgot about it. Kev would come home and mentioned he had received postcards here and there (they were sent directly to the school) but you can imagine my complete surprise yesterday as I am cleaning out the book bags and find all these.....

I am speechless and seriously got a lump in my throat. He got cards from all over......from family members, old college roommates, and some of the people who sent in cards were people we don't even know personally - my Uncle Jeff reached out to some friends and they went right out to send him a card. I even reached out to my precious Switchboards for a few states they were lacking and they came through too. The part that really got me was everyone wrote him the sweetest note on the back with a fact or two about the state and wishing them all luck in getting their ice cream party! One guy even invited the whole family to visit him in Dana Point and he'll take us out on his boat! He may regret that invite b/c we are taking him up on it (just kidding :)

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives in the name of geography, ice cream, and third graders! The kids DID get their fabulous party and had a year end test where they had to fill in a blank map and fill in states and capitals. Kevin got an A :) xo, Brie

Yippee Kiy AY!

Yeah, I am doing the cabbage patch dance b/c Jason was safe ;) Yeah, it's a bit of a popularity contest at this point b/c neither of those gals should have been in the bottom 2 based on Lloyd Webber night.......... but yeah, I am still doing the dance anyway! Poor Karly was SO good with JC Superstar but what can you do? I really didn't see an Irish girl winning American Idol. Still loving Jason and he is going to have to BRING IT and bring it good if he has any hope of going up against either of the Davids.

Ok, I have been slightly neglecting my blog a bit b/c I do have so many things to share with you (I am keeping a list so we'll get there - patience is a virtue!) but time has been incredibly tight. My life is giant Jenga game and I keep adding and adding blocks to the tower. I am still standing though!

So today I want to share with you this SUPER CUTE apron that I won from Misplaced Country Girl! Kayla stole it from me and wore it to a show we did together a couple of weekends ago for Monmouth Junior League. Isn't it great? I love the way she placed the fabric in different directions - it's a great design, really well sewn, and Kay commented the pocket was very handy for the calculator! (which we continually misplace during shows and then fly into a panic when we can't find it to calculate the sales tax). Thank you Toi, we love that apron!! Now back to the cabbage patch dance - which btw way NOBODY does better than my college roommate Becca. So funny.... I wish she'd upload a video on you tube b/c she's the BEST at it!
