Project Runway Spoiler

If you haven't seen it yet, x out quick!

Brie was kind of sad to see Suede leave last. Brie felt it was definitely Suede's time to go though. Brie was very relieved Kenley is still here, love that style, hair, and sass! Brie's husband never watches the show and when he saw the contestants dressed as their music genre (not knowing they were playing a part) - he told Brie she was insane (especially when he saw Suede all eyeshadowed and what not). Brie liked that Suede referred to himself in the third person right through the exit interview. Brie applauds that kind of committment! Bye Suede, it's been real! xo, Brie

PS I'm not insane, if you watch the show... you'll get it :D

Can't Get Enough...

of this Greek yogurt! My new favorite breakfast!! It is so good you would swear it was bad for you. I like the fruit ones, I had a vanilla one yesterday and was so so about it. Strawberry and Peach are home runs! xo, Brie

Today Keeps Getting Better and Better

Christy from The Write Gal just wrote to inform that I won a lovely little prize of a Starbucks Gift Card! I'm super psyched b/c there is always room for more caffeine in my life - always! Thank you Christy, you made my day :) Yahoo, hurray, and congrats to you - our new new class president!!!!! xo, Brie

Fudge!

I can't stop eating this.... I may need someone to come over and take this away from me. Try this Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Fudge ! I got the recipe from the Rachael Ray magazine (it is a great magazine and I am going to pony up for the subscription!!)

If you decide to make it, here are a couple of tips....

1. definitely use the parchment, makes it much easier to get out of the pan

2. when adding the confectionary sugar and peanut butter to the melted butter - add the sugar FIRST then the peanut butter. You may also need to add a touch more conf. sugar than they suggest to get a "fluffy" consistency.

3. Makes way more than 16 pieces - this is really rich! Cut it up into fudge sized pieces

4. Keeps better in the fridge

I hope you try and like it! It is delicious! I need to get back to the working out pronto! xo, Brie

a Moment of Silence

Taps is playing in the background...
For our poor Pearl and Sunshine may they RIP, Kay is sad - she took excellent care of them. We lost Pearl in July and sunshine went to hermit crab heaven yesterday.

The only good news is we have a new hermie named Moonlight who we got a Hershey Park this summer. She's much bigger and I am a little afraid of her. I'll post a pic later! xo, Brie

Spreading the Love

Been so busy this week, regular blogging hasn't made it to the to do list sadly. I HAD to share that Talbots kids isn't "officially" closed yet. Go to http://www.talbots.com/ click outlet, then kids. There are lots of steals and deals there - most are 50% off and some are 75% with a decent selection. Kay made out the best with some nicer casual stuff - not so much for school but will work well for church etc.

Like this patchwork corduroy skirt... for 29! Yes, please :) I would wear this if they had my size - I think we'll do this with ballet flats as it's more Kay's style.

this cute top to go with it for 12 dollars (I also got one in hot pink)

cute denim skirt for 19

This skirt for the holidays - 14.50 (75% off!)

I didn't find much for my boys, but there is lots to look at!

Ms. C scored this, she loves cats (14 dollars)

Total came to about 88 dollars so off I went to http://www.retailmenot.com/ for a coupon code. I LOVE this site, it has saved me a LOT of money. I share codes on there too when I come across them in the spirit of paying it forward. They advise to use code 909011410 and take 20% of your order of 100 dollars (good through 9/30). I add 2 turtlenecks (which I basically got for free) put in my code and voila, my order is marked down to 80 dollars and several adorable, great quality outfits are coming our way. I'm a proud peacock ;) If you like Talbots Kids like me, check it out before it's gone forever! xo, Brie

Dress Help!

Not for me, but for my 11 year old daughter... we have a christening to attend in 2 weeks. She is the Godmother - I'd love to get her something nice, cute, and age appropriate. I have a couple of things working against me here, 1. She is a very tall 11 year old, as in 5'4" tall - she would wear a 16/18 in a dress just to get the length right, so this rules out a lot shops. 2. It is an iffy time of year - certainly too late for a sundress, but it could also be too hot for something too warm. 3. Talbots Kids has closed. They were my "go to" and now they are gone and I am up a creek. The only thing working for me is that she still likes what I like, so whatever I pick will probably be well received. I am in full panic mode now - any suggestions????? xoxoxoxo, Brie

Channel your Inner Princess

This time of year is always so crazy... I've been a bad blogger and am working on getting my act together! With school starting up, fall sports, school changes, Liam's bday (Happy Birthday Liam xoxox) etc I feel like my Jenga tower is on the verge of toppling at any moment.

We had a great weekend with my parents here for a visit and we had a party for Liam to celebrate his 8th bday on Saturday night. He is such a sweet boy and makes his crazy September bday so easy for frazzled mom. Rice Krispy treats for bday school snack - so nice and easy and way less stressful than frosting 30 cupcakes at 11pm!! Jersey Boy bagels for breakfast and pizza hut (his favorite) for dinner - these were all his choices, he's the best!!

I did have a creative spurt this weekend and made up a bunch of headbands to coordinate with the Disney princesses. These could be the perfect accessory for a cute Halloween costume, and I like them because they aren't so "over the top" that the girls would feel weird about wearing them to school! I see I forgot to make one to represent poor Princess Jasmine and I am going to remedy that tonight. My most sincere apologies to Jasmine! It also appears I have promoted Tinkerbelle to princess status as she "only a fairy". My response to that is - I like fairies - so there! These will debut this week with a special price of 10 dollars - a cute stocking stuffer or birthday party present!! Get yours Here!

I like the idea of channeling my inner princess and I am going to practice what I preach today. I have been feeling a boatload of stress lately (none of which I can talk about just yet) and I am going to take it easy and take baby steps until things become more manageable. I am a firm believer of taking care of yourself in order to be a better care provider! Try it and see :) xo, Brie

In Memoriam...

Sending lots of thoughts and prayers to those affected 7 years ago. We live about an hour outside of New York City. Lots of moms and dads from school commute into the city everyday for work including our own Mr. KB. Several of the kids' friends lost parents that day, I know that day changed everyone.

Here is one of my favorite pictures of the lights they put in the towers place to honor the lives lost that day. There have been years in the past on a clear night when we can see the beams of light from our backyard. It takes your breath away. xo, Brie

C is for Cookies and Cosmos!

Even though I would desperately love to win these adorable cookies and eat them all myself and share them with the kids, I would feel like a crumb (ha ha, get it? crumb!! I'm on fire tonight) if I didn't share this awesome giveaway over at A Dozen Eggs Blog!

Also check out other fabulous and incredibly cute, detailed cookie designs at her website A Dozen Eggs. Perfect for care packages and party favors! xo, Brie

Randomness....

Have you ever bought red seedless grapes and they are especially good? Really crunchy and sweet too? I always say to myself that the next time I have them like this, I need to note the time of year so I can stock and restock. The time is RIGHT NOW (mid Sept), go get some and see :) I'll even tolerate bringing the freaky Grape King back into the house - they are that good! xo, Brie

Fall Headbands

Just received a new shipment of awesome grosgrain ribbon that are so perfect for some braided fall headbands! That leopard one has my name all over it :) I have been making some lately with all one color (like the black one you see up there) - I love the way they are coming out, the lines and texture of the grosgrain give it just the right amount of contrast. The black one goes with just about everything and has been in my hair everyday for the last week or so! I am going to list these 5 at a special introductory price of $10 through 9/14 as a special for the blog readers you can get yours Here! Happy Monday! xo, Brie

PS a certain someone by the name of Ms. C started pre k4 this morning! This look really says it all - hope they are ready ;)

School Bells are Ringing

For some anyway! The boys start today... some were eager to start school, and some were not! Thankfully someone snapped out of their mood before we left!

Kay starts her new middle school tomorrow, and Ms. C starts Monday :) I can't wait for them to get home so I can hear who their teachers are! I have a feeling it will be another great year!

After a very productive weekend, our new fall line is well underway. I promise to post a sneak peek manana! Happy school days!! xo, Brie
