Have you read this yet? You should! I loved it, gave it the full five star review. I knew a movie was in the was in the works but I had no idea an actual trailer existed until just now - I approve of the casting :) I will most definitely go see the movie when it comes out! xo, Brie
I think Christina must have read it before she made this video ;)

Summer Fun
Holy MOLY have I been a no show or what? I'm on the Cape and having a fab summer :) Lots of baseball for the boys, lots of beach time for us girls, lots of DQ, lots of wine, lots of movies, lots of fun.
I forgot my camera cord and you know how I don't love the posts w/o the pics. I bet my dad will let me borrow his camera so I can start properly chronicling all this fun.

Drop what you are doing and go see Toy Story 3 if you haven't seen it yet. It's really really good (I'm partial to these movies too so I'd be mad and tell you if it were no bueno)
If only to meet the new character Big Baby who is beyond awesome!! I solemnly swear to be a better blogger! Bye for now ;) xo, Brie

Obsessed
We recently found out Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on the instant queue for Netflix!! The REAL one, not the absurd remake with Johnny Depp doing a bad Carol Burnett impression. Ms. C is nothing short of obsessed. The apple does not fall far from the tree on this one -I love the original and never tire of it. It's right up there with the Wizard of Oz and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I still sing "Cheer up Charlie" whenever one of the kids is pouting. For some strange reason, they do not enjoy my song.
C's been singing "I've got a Golden Ticket " on the top of her lungs all day, everyday!
Everyone's got a favorite part - mine is a no brainer.... Violet you're turning violet! How convenient that she wore that horrific blue leisure suit to tour the factory that day! What's your favorite part? xo, Brie

Shrek Forever After

We just took the kids to see the final installment in the Shrek movies. The kids really liked it and I have to admit, I did too! They made us fork over and extra $3 something per person to see it in 3d and it just isn't that impressive. I would skip that feature and just see the regular screen version.
I also managed to woof down a rather large TUB of popcorn with extra delicious butter so I'm pretty sure that means I have had enough calories for an entire week in a 90 minute sitting. Darn you movie theatre popcorn, why must you be so delicious?
My favorite new character to the Shrek family is definitely the evil Rumpelstiltskin! I could totally get behind having a set of "angry hair" I think I'd wear every day! xo, Brie

After much begging and pleading, I got to see this last night. It is hilarious - provided you like low brow humor like I do! Put it on your to do list. xo, Brie

Vampires are having the best week EVER!
Keely and I went to see Twilight last night after our show. Holy smokes did I love it! I haven't even read the books, but now of course I will. Add this movie to your to do list!
Edward is Cedric from Harry Potter- so handsome... funny I never noticed that before! - the makeup was a touch distracting to me but all in all two thumbs up! xo, Brie

Chick Flick Central
One thing I love about the Cape is the fact that I actually get to go to see movies here. I love to see good movies and these two were keepers!
FINALLY this -so awesome, it did NOT disappoint. I think my sister, my cousin and I may have been the last women in the US to see this ;) I can't believe we actually found a theatre still playing it - lucky us!

and two huge thumbs up for this too :) I really loved this one, I have never seen the stage show but I went with some who had and liked it just as well. I need to go to Greece - that looks like my kind of vacation! Not since Muriels' Wedding has ABBA music been so awesome! I never tire of it :) If you like the music, you should definitely go see it! xo, Brie

PS blogging on location is a LOT harder than I thought it would be :-o

Atonement
One thing I am certainly NOT is an avid film goer. I LOVE to go to the movies but there never seems to be any time and for whatever reason it is not the way I want to spend an evening particularly where a babysitter is involved. I'd rather go out with friends or to a nice dinner etc etc etc.
I try to keep a little list of movies that I would go to the movies to see if I had oodles of free time and Netflix allows you to add movies to your queue even if they are still in the movie theatre with no video release date. LOVE that!! I already have Sex and City on the list because who are we kidding here - the chances are slim and none that I am going to get that while it's still in theatres.

Today I made 17 braided headbands while watching Atonement. I know it's been out on video for quite some time but in the off chance you have not seen it - I highly recommend it. It totally made me cry but I loved it!! Any braided headbands containing my tears will cost extra ;) Bonus points for the typewriter "music" - that was cool. Go rent it! xo, Brie

Penelope

I loved my quiet weekend and took Kay and a friend to see Penelope for her "good report card" prize. I'm not sure I would totally recommend it for two adults to go see, but it is a perfect movie to take 11 year old girls (or really any girl say 8 and over) with great message - "you're perfect as you are". With all the garbage out there, this was a great way to spend the afternoon!! The cinematography was especially beautiful.
I am going to try and do this more often where I take out one of the kids and a friend. Individual time is hard to come by around here and I think it's important. I also like getting to know their friends a bit better, I am a big believer in -you are who you hang out with. Kay's friend this weekend is a great girl, I'm happy they are friends!
I recently read that movie theatre popcorn has about a month's worth of ww points but gave into temptation and the 3 of us scarfed down the entire bucket (jumbo no less) before the movie was even half way over.
As quiet as it was here this weekend, my house looks like we had a wild party. Not sure what has happened so my Monday will be busy with boring chores. Hope your Monday is more exciting!! xo, Brie

My latest Addiction

Sorry I have been a bit of a no show today, but I am completely hooked on this dvd series that my mom brought to me this weekend. It's called the UP series (seven up, 7 plus seven, 21 up, 28 up, 35 up, 42 up, and 49 up) AWESOME!!! It's an incredibly interesting documentary of interviews of 14 children from all different economic and educational backgrounds. The interviews start when the kids are 7 years old in England. They get their take on family life, education, friends, social issues, and future goals. Some kids are raised in very privileged settings, some are raised in state homes, and one boy is raised on a remote rural farm with a 4 mile walk to school everyday. Then they revisit these same children every 7 years into adulthood (last series is age 49). The physical changes alone are shocking over the years. I am only on 21 up and the turns their lives have taken are inspiring in some cases and somewhat shocking in others. I'm completely addicted and off to check out 28 up! This is a must rent if you like reality type documentaries! xo, Brie
PS available on Netflix, I just checked :)
